Can you really fly for free when you are an aircraft mechanic?

Many aircraft mechanics enjoy flight benefits, flying almost any where in the world without paying a single penny for an airline ticket.

While many mechanics DO have flight benefits, not ALL have them. The most likely way to obtain flight benefits is by working for a major airline.

One of the best things about flight benefits is sometimes they never expire. This means that you will always have them, even if you quit working for the particular company that gave them to you.

It’s like this:

You begin working for Delta Airlines as an aircraft mechanic. You work for the company for a couple of years, and while you’re there you are given flight benefits. You leave the company to go work somewhere else. You still keep the flight benefits you received while a mechanic for Delta.

Pretty cool, isn’t it?

However, not all airlines provide flight benefits, although most of them do. And some mechanics (such as myself) have never worked for a major airline that offered flight benefits.

Of course, it never bothered me! It doesn’t matter that you don’t have flight benefits when you’re bringing in thousands of dollars each week working as an aircraft mechanic!
